FAQ

1.Are sash locks difficult to install?
Generally, they are easy to install provided you have the correct parts. For uPVC and timber sash windows, the sash lock is fixed to the window using self-tapping screws; for aluminium sash windows, you may need to consider using rivets and special retaining/catch plates, especially for some very narrow window frames, to get an adequate fix. The general rule is to replicate the existing fixing method when replacing a sash lock.

2.Are there sash locks that allow the window to be open but locked?
In some cases, it is possible to allow the sash to be slightly open, provided you have the correct retaining/catch plates. The degree of opening that can be achieved for "night ventilation" is very small, but if this position is used, it is important to be careful with safety considerations
