FAQ
1.What should be paid attention to during installation?
When installing a keyed-operated lock, ensure that the lock body and lock cylinder are installed accurately and firmly to avoid lock failure or safety hazards caused by improper installation. For example, for some built-in keyed-operated locks, it is necessary to install them correctly in the reserved grooves of cabinet doors, box doors, etc. or embed them according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2.How to perform daily maintenance?
In daily use, the lock cylinder should be cleaned and lubricated regularly to maintain its good operating performance. You can use some special lock cylinder cleaners and lubricants and operate them according to the product manual. At the same time, pay attention to prevent foreign objects such as dust and sand from entering the lock cylinder to avoid affecting the normal use of the lock.
3.Where can keyed-operated locks be used?
According to the International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, keyed-operated locks are generally allowed to be used on the exit side of certain specific places, such as assembly places (accommodating no more than 300 people), commercial, factory, retail or storage places, and the main exterior doors of religious places of worship. However, some conditions must be met when using it, such as the lock must be easily identifiable as locked, usually with an "open" or "locked" indication; when the building is occupied, there must be a conspicuous sign at least 1 inch high on or next to the door to remind people that the door should remain unlocked when the building is occupied.
4.What restrictions does the regulation place on the use of keyed operated locks?
In addition to the above-mentioned restrictions on venues and conditions, it is also stipulated that in certain circumstances, such as when the capacity of an assembly venue exceeds a certain number of people, the keyed operated lock must be a deadbolt lock that does not automatically lock, and the lock must be released by panic hardware or fire exit hardware. In addition, building officials can revoke permission to use keyed operated locks based on reasonable cause.
