FAQ
1.How do I replace a lock cylinder?
First, insert the key into the lock, look at the locking part on the door side, unscrew and turn the key, and the lock cylinder will slide out. When installing a new lock cylinder, make sure it is the right size and is inserted in the correct direction. If you are unsure, you can consult a professional or refer to the product manual.
2.How do I measure the length of the lock cylinder?
To replace a door lock cylinder, you must measure the correct dimensions in advance. The length of the lock cylinder is directly determined by the thickness of the door plus the installation thickness. Usually, the lock cylinder length will extend in fixed 5 mm steps. Measuring the two important lock cylinder dimensions (external and internal length) is simple. Just open the door and measure the length of the lock cylinder in both directions from the center of the center screw. With these two measurements, you can choose the lock cylinder that fits your door. For example, the lock cylinder length may be specified as 35/40. In the download area of the product page, you can find the length range of the lock cylinder.
3.What should I do if the key does not turn the lock?
Common reasons are dust or debris inside the lock. You can use lock lubricant to spray the lock mechanism to clean it. If the problem persists, check the key for wear and consider re-keying a new key.
4.What is the reason for the lock cylinder not turning? Sometimes the pin stack inside the lock cylinder is so worn, especially when there is a very short main pin, that it can get stuck between the mortise and the lock cylinder housing. If this happens, the lock cylinder or the entire lock set needs to be replaced, including the latch or bolt if they are sticking. Also, the latch or bolt may be stuck by the striker, and if the door is sagging due to age, deformation, or worn hinges, it may be necessary to reinstall the door or do some trimming of the holes in the striker and door frame so that the latch can extend and retract freely.
5.What should I do if the door handle does not pull the latch? This problem usually occurs when the connecting parts are worn or damaged. The door handle needs to be removed and the screw and spring checked. Replace any damaged parts and reassemble the handle, making sure everything is aligned correctly.
