FAQ
What are the common types of cabinet locks with keys?
1.Cam lock
Consists of a cylindrical housing and a metal cam. When the key is inserted and turned, the cam rotates and engages with the cabinet's strike plate or ring, locking the cabinet door. It is suitable for office furniture, filing cabinets, mailboxes, and display cabinets. It is simple to install and use, can provide basic cabinet security, is low cost, and comes in different sizes to fit various cabinet types. However, its ability to resist forced entry is limited compared to some more sturdy locks, and some models may be easily pried or manipulated.
2.Deadbolt cabinet lock
When the key is turned, a sturdy bolt extends into the cabinet frame, firmly fixing the cabinet door and providing a higher level of security. Commonly used in high-security places such as safes, confidential document storage cabinets, and cabinets for storing valuables. They are designed to be strong and effective against forced entry attempts, but due to this feature, they may be more expensive than other types of cabinet locks, and require a larger hole in the cabinet door to install, which may affect the aesthetics of some cabinet designs and is relatively complicated to install.
3.Sliding cabinet locks
Designed for cabinets with sliding doors. The locking mechanism is activated by a key to secure the sliding door in the closed position to prevent unauthorized entry. Commonly used in glass display cases, showcases, and cabinets with horizontal sliding doors, they can effectively protect valuables and merchandise. This lock is easy to operate and is usually concealed and does not detract from the appearance of the cabinet. However, it may not be compatible with certain cabinet designs or materials, and sometimes the sliding door needs to be modified to accommodate the lock, which may affect the original construction of the cabinet.
4.Magnetic cabinet locks
Locking and unlocking is achieved through magnetic force, which has a certain degree of concealment and convenience, but its security may be slightly weaker than other mechanical locks.
